"You have no control over what the other guy does. You only have control over what you do."

“The race was great! I felt so good, it was super fun and I was pushing hard the whole time. Knees are great, just overall tired, but no pain. I placed 12th of 18 girls. The time was 7,45 h. It was just sooo great to cross the finish line! I absolutely reached my goals, and next year I´m gonna aim for the top 10 and under 7 hours. It was really inspiring! It was also really fun to race solo, and have to push myself and know that every minute I´m gaining or loosing is my own performance”
I think that Sportbase coaching serivce has been great. It has helped me in my training and made me improve my results by a lot. I think you as a coach has been good, and responsive to me and my training goals.
The hard part has been the distance and time difference, which has made it a little hard to get in touch with each other quickly. There were a few times were you missed some scheduled calls cause of the time diff., but maybe that is inevitable.
The website has been working well. Maybe I would wish for a little more often feedback on my daily training, through the website, by means of the coach writing some comments.
A service that I would like, inbetween the real serious ten week programs, is to somehow contact the coach and bounce questions or ideas with every once in a while, and pay by the hour or email or something like that. Cause it´s too much for me to have a full program running continously, but it would be great to have some one to contact in between if you have questions about some part or your training, or if you feel like your body is not responding to the training and so on.
Over all I think it has been great, and I wish to come back again next spring.

Sam Thompson at Sportbase came on board as our coach for the biggest sporting event of our lives.
Two women both over 40 and training to run across Portugal in seven days, this is a total of 215KM and the most we had done was run a marathon and taken an age to recover from that.
Another challenge was I, Amanda Mortimer would do all my training in Queenstown and Shirley Emilio would do all hers in Portugal. We used Sam’s web-site and our Garmin watches to capture each session, it worked brilliantly. We went into the event after 3 months training, ready for the run and injury free, our goal was to finish feeling healthy.
We achieved just that, no injuries, feeling strong and almost as though the actual event was easy, certainly much easier than we had ever imagined, Sam was with us every step, he kept in regular contact throughout the run in Portugal using Skype and without him we would have found the whole thing a very different experience.
We raised $65,000 for charity and amazed ourselves, the true thing is that with the right training and nutrition, the human body can do anything, there are no boundaries and we have Sam to thank for that realization.

So, it went well. really well actually. Despite my bad throat and my hoarse voice, I went hard for 5 hr 16 minutes and got 9th place. Top 10 was my goal and I got it, so i feel great. there were 98 solo racers competing. So a big thanks is in order, you helped me reach my goal !”

Thanks heaps to Sam & Mark for all your help, my goal was to stay injury free and improve my performance through a structured program and with your help i've acheived some great results, never imagined after limping across the finish line after 25hr at Geoquest last year that i could come back this year and finish the full distance in top 10, after 39hrs, and get back into training the next week! Communication and feedback has been really helpful via skype and msg on the net works well when I am living in Aussie and Sam & Mark are coaching in NZ. Thanks again!
